Yarn enthusiasts nationwide celebrate I Love Yarn Day on the second Saturday of October every year. This holiday was established by the Craft Yarn Council in 2010 to honor the diverse world of yarn crafts. Regardless of how you use yarn, you can join the festivities and celebrate this special day! Let me tell you how!
Pin it Now, Read it Later!
This year marks the 13th anniversary of I Love Yarn Day, and the Craft Yarn Council (CYC) has come up with a unique way for you to participate in the event. This year’s theme is ‘Year of Teaching.’ The CYC aims to spread the joy of knitting and crochet to a wider audience. They have set a goal of teaching one million individuals how to knit or crochet within the next year. This would make such an impact in the crafting community! This initiative is scheduled to launch on I Love Yarn Day, Saturday, October 14th, 2023.
As a certified crochet instructor, this initiative has captured my heart. I am excited to participate and encourage others to join me.
“The guiding principle of the campaign is encapsulated in the mantra, ‘Make One, Teach One’” said Jenny Bessonette, executive director of the Craft Yarn Council. “Participants are encouraged to create one item for themselves while also taking on the challenge of teaching one new student how to make that very same item. The campaign’s ultimate objective is to spread the warm and gratifying feelings associated with working with yarn and yarn-related crafts.”
