Crochet Heart Wreath Free Pattern

I got the idea to make this Valentine’s crochet wreath after seeing a friend’s gorgeous heart-shaped ribbon wreath. This crochet design looks great hanging on my door when I pull into my driveway, adding a nice homemade vibe to the place. Whenever someone comes over, they always ask, “Did you make that?” and I just smile and say, “Yep!” It feels good to see their surprise. This pattern is intermediate-level and uses linked double crochets to create a smooth, textured look, perfect for adding a cozy, handcrafted feel to your Valentine’s decor. Whether it’s on your front door or inside, this wreath is a sweet way to show off your crochet skills and celebrate the season of love!

Instructions

Body

With Cranberry
Reference Photo 1  below for all references to stitch placement labeled A–E

When working sts in Rnd1, add enough sts to cover the wire, but not so many that it bunches up.

Rnd 1: join yarn with a sl st to first section around middle bar of wire wreath (A), sc around the entire wire form, making sure the “dip” (B) and “point” (C) of heart have an odd number of sts. The total number of sts must be a multiple of 3, join. Ex: 156 total sts ÷ 3 = 52 OR 183 total sts ÷ 3 = 61

Mark the top & bottom of center st in the dip and point sections. For example, if you have 21 sc in the dip section, place a marker on the top & bottom of the 11th sc. There should be an even number of sts on both sides of the marked stitch. The top markers will move up each round, while the bottom markers are for st placement on Rnd7 and will not move.

Rnd 2: ldc (see Special Stitches), dc to 1 st before marked st, hdc in next st, sc in marked st, move top marker up, hdc in next st, dc to marked st in point, tr in marked st, remove marker, dc around, join.

Rnd 3: [sc 3, ch 2, turn, sl st around post of 3rd sc from hook, ch 1, turn, 5 dc in ch-2 sp] repeat to 3 sts before marked st, sc 2, sc3tog (see Special Stitches), move marker up, sc 6, ch 2, turn, sl st around post of 3rd sc from hook, ch 1, turn, 5 dc in ch-2 sp, [sc 3, ch 2, turn, sl st around post of 3rd sc from hook, ch 1, turn, 5 dc in ch-2 sp] repeat to end of round, join.

In the next rnd, you will be joining Rnd3 to the outer wire with a series of sc.

Rnd 4: [sc 3 around outer wire, insert hook in ch-2 sp from Rnd3 and sc around outer wire to secure Rnd3] repeat to 3 sts before marked st, sc 7 around wire at dip (D), remove marker, insert hook in ch-2 sp and sc around outer wire to secure Rnd3, [sc 3 around outer wire, insert hook in ch-2 sp and sc around outer wire to secure Rnd3] repeat to 4 sts before point, sc 4, sc 3 around wire at point (E), [sc 3 around wire, insert hook into ch-2 sp and sc around wire to secure Rnd3] repeat to end of round, join, changing to black marble in last st.
