End of Month Update: July

Is school back in session?

August is here and for many of you that means your little ones will be heading back to school or starting school for the 1st time! This year I will have four of my nine grandbabies in school. My Lively girl starts kindergarten this year and I feel a bit emotional about it! She’s my son’s 1st child. He’s my baby. Liv going to school reminds me of when I dropped her dad off the first day of kindergarten.

Once I settled him into class, I walked to my car and bawled my eyes out. I never cried like this when my girls started school! He was my baby, my buddy, my sweet, shy boy! I was so worried that he wouldn’t speak up if he needed anything….and he didn’t! He didn’t talk to his teacher the entire year of school! Or the following year either! On the last day of 1st grade, he waved to his teacher and said, “Bye”. She cried!

Let me Introduce the Birds of a Feather Tapestry Crochet Bag!

I’m so happy (and excited) to announce that the Birds of a Feather Bag is finished! I sure did have a hard time with this design. You can read all about it here. What I love most about this pattern is it can be crocheted relatively quickly! I sent this pattern to my testers on the 29th and a few of them have already completed it! One tester is making her 2nd bag! I have enjoyed seeing the colors that my testers have chosen for their bags! Every time they post a progress picture in the group chat, my heart leaps with excitement! It’s so incredible to see the pattern I designed coming to life on the hooks of others!

A Little Update on Life

I know several of you follow me on Instagram and know that I got really sick a few weeks ago. I appreciate all the DM’s I received from each of you! Seriously, I felt cared for and loved by every message I received! I hardly ever get sick but when I do…it’s usually pretty bad! I tested negative for the crud, but my hubby was positive! With both of us being sick, life was difficult! Neither of us had the energy to care for one another, let alone ourselves! I’m thankful that we’re past it now and recovered! Since I was sick, I had to postpone my crochet class until I was well! We’ve been meeting the last two weeks and it’s been such a joy teaching this mom and her son, who is 9, to crochet! Her son really got the hang of it and made several chain bracelets! Mom’s goal is to make a scarf. She thought it would be the neatest thing if she could make something for herself! We don’t do that enough, do we? Often times we’re making something for someone else OR we’re making items to stock our online shop! When was the last time you crocheted something just for you? If you’re looking for a great self-care project, check out my Squared Away Project Bag! If you subscribe to The Flock Newsletter, you received a 50% off coupon for this pattern in your inbox! The Easy Peasy Lemon Squeezy Crochet Along

We wrapped up the Easy Peasy Lemon Squeezy Crochet Along at the end of July! This CAL was the very 1st CAL I’ve ever hosted! I really had a lot of fun! Each week I posted a challenge for everyone to complete. Everyone who posted a picture of the completed challenge would be entered for a chance to win a prize. For the first week, Lavonne from @lsfiberarts, donated a pair of lemon slice stitch markers for the winner. I loved these stitch markers so much that I had to buy a pair for myself! The second week, Montana from @luvs2cr8bymontana donated a lemony yellow triangle pouch for the winner. She has a wide assortment of triangle pouches in her shop. Week three’s winner received Lemony Lemon Stitch Markers from Ronni, @thehookingreader. She has some really adorable stitch markers she sells on Etsy. I want to thank each of these ladies for their donation and their support for my 1st CAL! Yes, there was also a grand prize for the final week which Allison won! She received a Prym crochet hook set! Congrats Allison!
