Frequently asked questions
How do I get started?
Once you decide on having your pattern edited by Cherie from Sweet Bird Crochet, you’ll click the ‘Get Started’ to fill out a contact form or you can email me at firstname.lastname@example.org. Once the form is filled out, we’ll discuss all the details and I’ll give you a quote of how many hours it may take me. Shortly after our consult, I’ll send you the info to get you started on setting up a style sheet! Once you submit the style sheet, you’ll send me your pattern and I’ll work hard to edit it to perfection (or close to it!) It’s really that simple!
What format does my pattern need to be written in?
I accept patterns written in Microsoft Word, Google Docs, PDF, and Canva.
What forms of payment do you take?
I accept PayPal and most major credit cards. I will also accept checks but won’t be able to get started on editing your pattern until the check clears!
How much does it cost?
I charge $20 an hour for beginner and easy patterns with a minimum of 30 minutes. I do my best to be as efficient as possible to help keep cost low for designers while still offering my best work. After the minimum 30 min., I charge in increments of 6 minutes.
Chat Moderation costs are $10 a week.
How long is the process?
My turnaround time varies depending on the difficulty and length of pattern, my workload, and my availability. Typically, I try to have the initial edit back to you within 3-4 days.
Why do I need a tech editor if I have pattern testers?
Pattern testers work up your unpublished pattern to make sure it makes what it’s intended to make. Tech editors check for any and all errors in math, grammar, punctuation as well as making sure your pattern is consistent and accurate. Tech editors also check to make sure your pattern is written in the industry standard, so it’s easily understood by all crocheters.
